Fuel Sender to main Pump Fuel Hose Replacement '88 245 200

Welp. I just replaced my filter, in-tank pump (pita), and the main pump as both were non-op and very well may have been seized.. I thought to replace the 12mm fuel hose upon pulling everything apart but in calling to the parts store (just one), they hadn't anything other than 3/8 or 5/16 injector rated fuel line.

I miraculously managed to get the 245 running. And she ran great! Only yet to find a mm size leak at the hanger hold @the DS rear bump stop.

I've called every parts house in a sixty mile radius (That's if they even bothered to answer their phone).
No 12mm injector fuel hose. No 7/16". Not even half inch.

I've scoured a fair bit online... I'm in BFE Arizona. Volvo Dealer is 80 miles away. It's 10-14 days to get any of this "specialty" fuel line.

Is injector rated fuel line even necessary here? Judging by the leak... that in-tank pump couldn't be pushing more than 5-8psi. Am I delusional to just run fuel hose and some split-loom over it?

TIA,

Dick

Right, it isn't high pressure which is the reason for the "fuel injection" rating so I went to TB because I know the subject has been thoroughly discussed there. Found your post and the best answer I've seen posted (because of the price) so here it is for Brickboard readers: https://www.mk1autohaus.com/Fuel-Hose-by-the-Foot-12mm-ID-x-19mm-OD-_p_7393.html

Thank you Art for posting that link--and I couldn't help but respond to the quote you listed -- "I don't think you can get cold in Volvo 240 series. The AC can't do it and the heater won't let you." -darkdelta -- it reminded me of the comment I've made regarding my 1980 245 -- the 245 is just like the Rolls Royce pictured in a 1960's ad for RR -- with the text "so quiet you can hear the clock ticking at 60mph". In my 245 you can also hear the clock ticking at 60mph (but not for the same reason).

Clocks in the old dash 200

Dave, I take it you have overdrive in that 80. I know the clock in my 79 is accurate when twice a year I set it for the DST change, know that it is long lasting (been ticking for like 43 years), and loud. But at 60 with the three-speed AW55 I haven't heard it. Will try again with my new hearing aids. Thanks for that tidbit about the RR ad.

I've actually had a person complain about the ticking.
In my 75--camping---just sitting in the car in the woods.
'How can you stand that ticking'---he said.

Clocks in the old dash 200

Yes Art--an M46. I've owned many 240 cars--w/turbo--w/o turbo--auto BW 35 and BW55 and AW70 and 71 and this '80 has the loudest clock by far. To be perfectly honest 60mph may be a stretch but remembering that RR ad and having this clock I've been listening to for 21 years (the car is now officially retired--replaced by the '93 245 w/Olds 215 V8 and Camaro T5) - it was just too tempting to bend the truth to fit the joke. :-) Dave

Delusional?
This is what I found on my previous 245 a couple of years ago and as you can see, the big hose is just a standard fuel hose. It is the same on my current 245.
