Chicago transmission guru? 120-130

Hello everyone,

I believe it's time for a transmission rebuild (M41- dtype with whining in 1st, 2nd 3rd). Can anyone point me to a good person/ outfit in the Chicago area that you would recommend?

Thank you for any leads!

I suggest finding a Volvo specialist repair shop in your area. They may not be able to rebuild your M41, but they might know someone that can.

If you have trouble finding someone, call your local dealer and speak to the Parts department and ask them for a shop that buys parts for really old Volvos. That's how we sometimes get new customers because we still buy a lot of OE Volvo parts.

FYI, we routinely rebuild M41s shipped to us and in fact we're shipping 2 M41s to Arizona this week and rebuilding another that's going to Nevada.

If your rebuilder needs parts, we have both new and used parts in stock.

Are you planning on replacing the clutch at the same time?

Good luck!
