Was there a specific year that Volvo changed over from the felt to neoprene rear seal ? Hoping that a 1972 1800E has the neoprene seal....if so what brand of seal do you recommend for longevity ?

74 was the first year, but the kit to do the early cars was available then, also. so in the past 50 years, unless it's been in a cave and never driven, it's probably got the new design seal.

brand-oe volvo or elring.6842160. the kit was a 430115-new housing, gasket and seal.

Thanks. I couldn't remember the year that Volvo changed-over to the modern seal.
