I am about to make a 1000 mile trip in my 92 240, but the shift lever button will not make the OD dash light go out. I want to hot wire the OD solonoid at the relay. I cannot find a wiring diagram on line and do not have my Bentley. Anyone know the color of the solonoid to relay wire , or have a wiring diagram?

Check fuse 11 before you get too deep.

Thanks for the nice wiring diagram. Jumpered the relay connector to get home with an overdrive. Will attempt proper repair later because I do like the OD lockout feature. ( Never use it though ) Dont know why they designed it to fail in lockout mode. Was there a concern with lugging the engine? Hmmmmm.

My guess is no one designed it to fail. The 4th gear was an add-on to an older well-proven design, instead of a ground-up new transmission.

However, tongue in cheek, I can imagine claiming to be Mike would have never been aware or cared if somehow the solenoid valve could have been made to close when energized. Those happy with the bypass plate, as I've rhymed in the past, drive "mainly on the plain." Or drive submarines. And they don't tow.

FWIW - I installed the bypass plate - from IPD - no worries since then. No light and it functions as a 4 speed full time. Step on the gas and it downshifts to third when needed.

I have done the simple approach to get it to work..after cleaing the area off I have used a Bigger outer O Ring to let fluid flow from 3 rd to 4th ,,,just dont have a kick down mode...
