Been looking for some time at getting wider rims for my '63 544. Any experience with the available 5.5" rims or aftermarkets?

I love the red "V" of my hubcaps but they click at low speeds. I've heard of people widening the 4" rim and Skandix makes an in-house 5.5" rim that accepts the trim rings and the red "V" hubcap. Very pricey and still just a steel rim.

I do like the look of the Kronprinz rims. They're 5.5" and at the proper offset. No red "V" hubcaps or trim rings.

Is it worth widening the wheels? Any experience with the ones mentioned above?

I used Vision VSW-55-5504 wheels 15 x 5, (5x4.5 / 4.75) 3.25” backspace, VSW-2531V hub caps. These are GM style 5 slot steel rally wheels. I used the plain center cap and put a Volvo style logo on the cap.
I have the stock 165/80R15 tires.

I have a set of Duett wheels that are 4-1/2 inches wide and noticeable heavier than stock 544 wheels.

I have read posts that claim that larger roll bars and much wider wheels can alter handling for the worse.

When I redid my 444 years ago I used wheels from a 122 wagon which, as I recall, were 4.4".

Ooops 4.5".

Ford Ranger Pickup they bolt right on, the steel ones are slotted, and they have a lot of different aluminum ones also, Mazda pickup is also the same

Any specific years?

I don't remember, go to your local salvage yard I'm sure they can help
