I now have to use Chrome to reach the BB when I’m on the Mac laptop. I can still reach BB on my iPhone using Safari (old version).

I asked my son to access the site on his macbook air and he did so without any issues. It was then I realized it was my macbook pro so I deleted the entire history and emptied the cache and did a complete powerdown and power up. Now I can get on BB with my macbook pro

    Hi,

I have had the same problem with a Apple IPad using Safari.

I do not have an answer for these issue but I have notice that if I clear out all the past history in the Safari browser of places I have visited it will start working again. It makes no difference what search engine I use but I never use Google or Yahoo.
The Earlier years of dial up ISP systems, taught me better.
It’s something with servers and time to respond, it says?
The 403 messages still jump back in and block communication with the BRICKBOARD site only.
I have not had any problems with internet elsewhere.

I have written up reply messages, while being logged in, just to have them disappear into cyberspace upon submission.
Recently, the whole thread that I was posting too, disappeared for that night and half of the next day.
When it did come back on the 200 section, My post never appeared. It’s was Just gone.

This has been so bad lately that I copy the posting to my note book first, to back it up, just in case the site craps out with the 403.

I have no proof but sometimes I think and it a loose thought, that the BRICKBOARD site has issues because it does not let Google put its specialized advertising on here.
Google wants to track everything and Jarrod, the builder of this site. doesn’t want to play ball with them.
He has commented over the years, on his various posts within the opinion section of the BRICKBOARD.how From my observations only, the Internet itself has hard ball players trying to get aggressive or invasive.

Of course, that’s depending on how you look at it from any technical end.
Power hunger and greedy enterprises are to blame for lots of chaos.

I support the BRICKBOARD with a modest monthly donation for Jarrod’s efforts of past and present.
He has never really tried to solicited it and that’s a qualifying honor in my book!
Contributing my posting time is to help fellow Brickster’s and it is a welcomed diversion from so many magazines filled half full of advertising. Lately they have More photos than content.
It’s what chased me away from the Popular Science Magazine that I had for about 35 years. Plus any car enthusiast magazines were a lot worse than PS for a lot longer time.

The BRICKBOARD is my last resort.
So far the Streaming al-a cart and not subscribing to standard Television, from Mr. Sinclair’s licensing fees, is a last stand against commercialization thats gone too far.
    Commercial-vision is over for me.

I’m paying too much for higher data downloading speeds already. It’s only to get in more commercials, faster! How crazy is that?
Spectrum Cable just examined or evaluated my house cable wiring for free.
They removed any extra wire or splitters to the modem to speed up my service, they said.

Yep, I got it, so I won’t waste extra time accessing their system, so more piggies can get into the trough.
Telephone companies are looking to bring in more fiber optics, so as to be more competitive with their packaging scams like the satellites do.
Rent and to never own is a system. (:-(

Phil. Edit. Wow this thread sure took off!

      Hi Phil,

See my earlier reply here for two ways to fix Safari access on iPad IOS. Resetting website data (which removes no longer compatible browser cookies and caching) is a common fix for 403 errors. I use both old and new versions of four different browsers on multiple devices and all are currently working with the brickboard at the moment, although a few did need cookies (browser data) reset in recent weeks. This problem may be compounded if your cookies are cloud shared on multiple devices. In that case you may need to close off all browser apps (including background instances), then one at a time doing a website data clear on each device before opening the browser back up and accssing the brickboard.

Like you, I've also had Replies occasionally disappear and Edits not register after a Submit for a number of weeks now. I contacted Jarrod about it the other day. He's currently trying to purge some unnecesary, redundant coding, occasionally leaving some old procedures that are no longer compatible. He took a look, but couldn't spot this posting problem. It was happening frequently to me yesterday, including in this very thread. I'll now get him to investigate further. Were these posts of yours that disappeared or didn't register new posts at the start of a thread? Or just replies that disappeared on you?

Another thing I asked for was delaying the emailed notices to the OP and reply posters until the edit period has expired so that the content of the email reflects the final composed post, not the initial composition. It would mean OPs don't get their replies a few minutes later. Such delayed events are not necessarily an easy thing to implement, so it may take additional requests from us to make it happen (which people are welcome to request here by adding a reply to my post).

I'm also noticing that the login fields in the header are not fully displaying in some browsers making logins/logouts difficult or impossible to do there. I sometimes have to go the home page login/logout. Are others seeing this?

        Hi Dave,

I’m not sure how to follow your instructions on clearing any cookies other than using the Safari internet access.
        You wrote this.
“This problem may be compounded if your cookies are cloud shared on multiple devices. In that case you may need to close off all browser apps (including background instances), then one at a time doing a website data clear on each device before opening the browser back up and accssing the brickboard.”

As far as I know I do not have any other browsers or Apps.
What’s meant by in the background.
I do have Two IPads and a IPhone as the wife’s hand-me-downs so linked to themselves is very likely but hers are separate as far as I know and she doesn’t get 403 messages. She doesn’t try the BRICKBOARD either. It’s my domain for sanity. (:-)
I only have what default search engine I select in Safari, of which, are either Duck Duck Go or my recent on from ECOSIA.
It is based in Berlin, Germany and trying to use its profits to plant trees.
It’s been a struggle for them as they are fighting Google’s monopoly and data gathering efforts too.

The more you want done without an effort on your part gives them a gateway to many avenues of back door entries.
This is only my opinion based on very little evidence because I stay closed up by very limited use of the internet. It’s all too crazy for my tastes.

        You asked….
“Were these posts of yours that disappeared or didn't register new posts at the start of a thread? Or just replies that disappeared on you?”

The 403 messages appears very randomly.
It has seemed more often using Duck Duck than the ECOSIS search engine so far.
I don’t post many threads on my on questions of repair .
I just don’t have that many issues. Mainly because I live in a nicer climate that doesn’t beat cars to death with seasonal extremes.
I usually reply and write and post.
I’m either nearly first or the last one.
The last one to works out a lot of times as almost everything has already been said or the OP never responds back with a conclusion.
        That leaves us all hanging!

The fact is I try to copy this to notes and then post.
On this thread the very thread it disappeared but came back into play much later missing any sign of my replying post.
I believe I was number one, then, but by the time I posted there was another one up the next day by itself. I didn’t care to try again and probably wrote too much anyways.

This was the worst that it has gotten to be, losing the thread.
I assumed that Jarrod may have taken the server off line at that moment.

I have had days of no BRICKBOARD at all too!
Only to find out he works on the site. No set time for him to do it.
I have been patient as it’s mostly entertainment for me.

Others wanting a fix are not that compassionate and might never use the board as often.
So it’s a tough balance on pushing email notifications but an email suggesting that there “is” traffic on the thread of at least “readership” it might plant more tolerance within the waiting and watching aspects.

Another reason to have a profile on here and not using “claiming to be.”
Knowing the state or town that the car is in, tells a lot about the condition and type care that went into a cars past.
Personality and car characteristics both “do” make used cars worth owning and chatting about.

The email spacing seems to be very instant and I have wondered what is received in an email is ever changed by the edit except on the thread in the board.
I haven’t tried to compare things for any edits. The link goes to the BRICKBOARD anyway, if you want to follow up with them all.

The whole iCloud process must be global but one has to think that Microsoft and Google are kissing cousins to say the least. China has been mindful of this and plays harder ball within their controls.

I’m skeptical that eventually the Internet will be held hostage to renting everything with a “value” set on them knowing how much they know about the requesters.
Wheeling and dealing causes lots of drawbacks to gaining knowledge for all of us.
How those powers are ultimately use throughout the planet is called evolution, if we can survive the time it takes.

I can say cars and storage batteries will not be the great answer in the near future. It’s turning into such a mess, IMHO.
Hydrogen as a fuel with fuel cells and super capacitors are better than chasing our tails the way we are heading.
Ask about 30 other countries that are working on Hydrogen technology. Safer than gasoline or propane and a lot more abundant.
It’s everywhere with no country boundaries to fight over.
        We all need each other!

Thanks for the conversation and I’m admiring your posts.
I’m glad to have you ask me these questions even though I do not know any answers to them specifically.
Yes, Jarrod has done very good with managing and having this site for us all.

        Phil

To clear the brickboard cookies to fix the 403 error in iPad/iPhone IOS Safari, go into the main IOS Settings app, scroll down on the left to Safari, then scroll down on the right to Clear History and Website Data. It should be similar in Mac IOS. In Windows, the browser menu will have an Options or Settings tab that will allow clearing website data. Some like Firefox allow you to view and search for individual cookies then delete just them, preserving your other website preferences, settings and logins.

As for current system issues here, this reply post took me 8 edits to compose, four of those edits didn't take after the Submit and had to be be redone. The notification email spit out soon after the initial post. Jarrod told me the current Edit period is 2 minutes, but it's normally much longer. Jarrod uses a test server and rarely has to shut the main server down for more than a few minutes to install a new version. Server reliability is occasionally an issue and he supposedly gets automatically notified when the brickboard crashes, but sometimes there are delays before he finds out and has the time to investigate and fix it. If I see it down for more than a couple of hours then I'll email him.

Unable Brickboard on my macbook pro -here's the fix 700

Jarrod has been tinkering with the system in recent weeks and there have been a few issues. The RWD index was even down for most of a day.

I was also just getting a 403 error under IOS Safari. Also had a 403 error with Firefox in recent weeks. 403 errors are often associated with incompatible browser cookies. You just need to clear your brickboard cookies, otherwise known as website data. Go into settings for your browser. If you can't selectively clear brickboard.com cookies (typically two) then delete them all. For Safari, go into Settings, then Safari, then Clear History and Website Data, which will do everything. If you want to be more refined about it with Safari, go into Settings \ Safari \ Advanced \ Website Data \ search for brickboard.com \ Edit \ Delete \ Done, which will just reset the brickboard.

For other browsers, if you can't selectively clear cookies then clear them all. Clear out browser cache memory if you can, also power down and re-boot your system if you haven't recently. If that still doesn't work then try a different browser like Chrome on the same device.

Please post back with your progress so others will know and we can alert the admin if necessary.

I thought something was wrong with my MBP but I guess not seeing others are experiencing the same issue. I am using IE at present. I did clear the cache and reboot my MBP but no help.

    Hello,

Same here. I always use my MBP to connect to Brickboard. When I can't, I use my handphone instead with its Android browser. That seems to work. I can only read/reply to posts when using handphone. Can't upload any photos as its difficult to manage (phone screen is smaller than my MBP).

Anything new in the LED department 700

      Hi Amarin,

My Lasfit LED headlights are still behaving well. and this week I emailed a vendor on ebay to ask how much current (Amps) his "100 watt per lamp" LEDs were.
The vendor has not responded and I'd guess that he's full of banana oil.
I think the new LEDs have current limiting and if his lamps draw more than 2 amps
      I'll be surprised. There's a 5 year warranty.
Some Ebay LED headlight vendors are full of high octane donkey droppings with their wild claims.

Tell me if you've seen anything new of interest.

      Best regards, Bill

    Brickboard under attack again.
    Another reason to support Brickboard.

    Cheers, Bill
