Seating the rear axle 444-544

Hi all- and holiday greetings.
I have pulled the rear axles, greased the rear bearings, renewed the rear brakes, shoes springs and brake cylinders. The new inner seals are back in. The bearing races are back in the bearings are on the axles. How do I get the last inch, inch and a half of axle into the differential to seat the bearings? What am I missing. I have wiggled, I have jiggled Thanks.

Will turning the diff input flange get the axle splines to engage? Maybe I'm reading your question wrong.

Hello,

After installing the new axle seals in the axle tubes, install the new bearings on the axle shafts and pack them with high temperature bearing grease, lubricate the axle seals with grease, then install the axle shafts in the axle tubes and then the bearing races are tapped in afterwards.

Then you get to set the axle bearing end play.
