ANTIFREEZE-COOLANT 200

Have a 93 - 240 B230 with Nissens 2 row aluminum rad. What are most using for coolant?
Regular Prestone 50/50, original Volvo, Dexcool etc.
My mecanic said if you change it every 5 years you can prolong life of rad and heater core.
Any thoughts appreciated or am I overthinking this for a BRICK.

I use G-05. In the past I used “green”. However, after reading a post on the Brickboard from a contributor who I respect a lot I switched. He indicated that he had never had to change out a heater core or a head gasket on a car that had been using G-05 long term. That was incentive enough for me having already earned my merit badges in both categories.

I purchase full strength and dilute 50/50 with distilled water. It is criminal how much you are paying for water when you crunch the numbers on cost differences between full strength and diluted coolant.

Zerex G-05. Its chemical make up (no phosphates) is supposed to be good for our later model white block cars (or so I’m told) in addition to our one remaining red block. Rather than purchasing the 50/50 “ready to use” stuff I buy it in the full strength version and mix it 50/50 with distilled water.
