544 rear end 444-544

I am looking for a complete rear end for my 1961 544.
I live in Arkansas so would like to find one here or in a surrounding state.
Any help is appreciated.

Ray J.

    There exist resources for you.

Contact the VCOA chapter near you. There appear to be three near you including the Ozark Rollers in Bentonville AR and Southeast MO chapters:

    https://www.ipdusa.com/products/11067/Engine-Mount-960-S90-V90-MTC-VR258-Volvo-3536226

In Atlanta, you have the often touted VOLUparts that may know vintage parts resources closer to you:

    http://www.voluparts.com/

See Ron Kwas' site for resources

    https://www.sw-em.com/

Contact the nearby stealership and ask in parts and also service if anyone knows. Many service folks are also Volvo hobbyists.

Try a google and google map search for other salvage and vintage salvage yards.

    Hope that halps you.

Free rear end in San Clemente, California 92672. Too heavy for me to move it.
In good condition. The car went to rust heaven.

Left over from my 444 refurb of long ago, I have a PV444 rear axle assembly. I replaced it with a B18 - 544 axle to get better ratio with the B20 engine I used in the 444. I expect it will fit. For sure, the handbrake linkage is different but that was not hard to adapt. I believe the brakes are also different - I used front brakes from the 544 to keep the same as the B18 rear brakes. I do not know if the B16 544s used the later brakes. The axle is in Solon, Iowa. Quite a way.....

        Hello,
Is it a spicer or ENV rear end ?
If you could send pictures that would be great.

        Thanks

The stock Dana rear end for a Volvo 444 would have been a Dana 23 and we have 1 of those sitting on our rack of old rear ends if you're interested.

            Hi Eric,
I would like a rear end out of a 1962 or newer 544. I am running a 2.5L engine which should work nicely with 4,11 gears.
            Shipping is the killer.
            I live in Arkansas.

            Thanks
            Ray J.

I checked mine - it is 4.56, as expected, so not your answer. I took some pictures if anyone is interested.

              Good luck going forward.

Thanks to Keith I now have a rear end.
He has two 1950 Plymouth 2dr sedans that are very nice.

                Thanks again Keith.

1961 was the cross over from B16 to B18 and axles could be 4.56 or 4.10 so make sure you get the one you want. If B18 you want the 4.10 unless you are doing floor mods to fit an M41 box. You can take your pick then to give you nippy acceleration or good, quieter cruising in OD.
