Volvo uses two 1157NA bulbs in front parking/turn? wot... 200 1993

I took apart the RF headlight assembly and resealed its lens to the reflector using silicone and wire ties. These will be poor man's E-codes for now with Beamtech 9004 LED bulbs.

Turned my attention the turn/parking lens. I will paint the reflectors white. But ...

How odd that Volvo puts two 1157NA bulbs in there, the NA having staggered pins, and only uses one filament of both. Is that common on later 240s? It works fine, it's just odd that they didn't use a single filament for both, 1156NA for turn and 5007 white for parking. Such it is on older 240s.

My plan is to change the wiring and put in two switchback 1157s in parallel. I'd have to grind off one pin. BTDT. Both would then be white on parking, then flash amber on blinker. I have switchbacks in one pickup and it's very visible, because when on blinkers or flashers, there is only amber and off flashing. No white.

I'm interested in what others of you have done to improve the front lighting. I lived in yurrup for almost two decades and love E-codes, but not the price and the ease with which the glass breaks. Lots of flying pebbles in Texas.

The use of 1157NA is weird, but it's a Volvo and that's one of the reasons we work on them, because we're weird for old Volvos.

You run a shop in Torrance? I wonder if you know of our 1978 242GT. It was sold new at Rusnak in Pasadena. Spent its life in SoCal. Got moved to AZ, then transferred to a man with the same last name in Austin TX, then showed up wholesaled off in San Antonio. It has a full IPD suspension and a very strong atmo motor, feels about as strong as a stock B21FT. Somebody dumped a lot of money into it ... then traded it in. I'm just wondering who would invest so much in a collectible car then let it go for $1k. It had a sticker under the hood for a Volvo indy in Glendora, which is gone now.

      Just a longshot...
