Uploading Images 200 1981

I'm unable to upload a jpg image 640x348.
I log in
select BrickPix
select new exhibit

I click browse
select my image
the file name appears

I fill in the rest of the info
Enter a note
click Submit My Image

All I get is "server error". I tried on two different days with the same result. Any advice please.

The secret hand shake for posting images:

<
img
src
=
"Image_Location"
>

Enter above string as a single line.

"Image location" must be "website address" of the image.

Example:
https://imgur.com/image file name.jpg

imgur.com is the image hosting service.

Best to also scale the image by including a width= parameter in the HTML. 300 pixels is good for a smaller image, 400 or 500 for an average size, and 600 if there's lots of detail needing to be seen. Larger images may cause the right hand display margin to be way off to the right making reading of the entire thread difficult by constantly having to scroll to the right. I once suggested that Jarrod make the default image width 400 pixels to help keep Expanded Thread displays readable, but that didn't happen.

<img src="url" width=400>

The url only needs to be surrounded in double quotes if it contains a space character, otherwise the double quotes are optional.

It's usually simplest and safest to use copy and paste functions to insert the web link of the image from a browser display of the image and then insert it while typing the double quotes.

Thanks. That's more convenient than pre-scaling and hosting duplicate originals.

I believe the BrickPix function is not working or is at least problematic.

Fewer places provide free online storage than have been available in the past. Personally I use Imgur. You can create a free account and upload images to your account. You choose what image you want to display with your Brickboard post and copy the link provided for that particular image.

You use that link and a bit of html within your Brickboard post and the image will display in your post. I don’t have that string of html available as I am away from my desktop and posting from my phone. Perhaps someone else will be able to provide that. In the meantime you might look into getting an account at Imgur or a similar site.

Thanks. I just realized I need a hosting service. I even have that yellow notice posted here somewhere that gives complete instructions.

I think you're right. I carefully follow the instructions in BrickPix and receive this message after clicking submit.
