Map sensor replacement 200 84

How hard is it to replace a map sensor in an 84 DL? How much would it cost for me to do it verses a garage to do it? It only has 113k on it.

Re: Map sensor replacement 200 84

If you mean the amm air mass meter very easy to change out. i have one for sale now on ebay for about $20.00. Do you think your hot wire in the amm has gone bad?

MAP=Manifold Air Pressure, 200 doesn't have one. 200 84

AMM=Air Mass Meter.

If you have a CIS system, that's yet another issue...I don't think the CIS has one, just a mass flow plate that adjusts system pressure and thus flow.

The AMM can be replaced in about 10 minutes. What makes you think it needs to be replaced?

Re: Map sensor replacement 200 84

Very difficult, even impossible.

If you mean the MAF sensor(at least it has one), it's quite easy.

It takes at most 15 minutes, for which a garage will most likely charge you a whole hour; the part costs from ~US$20(pick-n-pull) to ~US$500(new Volvo price). Be sure to check the airbox thermostat, too.
