Small moter sound in back 200 86

While driving my 86 240 wagon I can hear a small motor sound coming from under the back end. This sound was not there a week ago. I have not looked at or listened closely. I will be taking the car to my volvo mech for oil change and will let him know about the sound. I wanted to get an opinion on the cause of the sound.

Thank you.

Re: Small moter sound in back 200 86

I also understand the power consumption increases as the motor ages, as much as twice the initial 5-6 amp draw. So if you can wire in an ammeter to test the current draw and find it's 10-12 amps or more you might consider replacing the pump.
