I'll be getting a 242 turbo soon and have some newer tires on my 1800. The tires are 185 60's/15in. I assume these will fit the 15 inch rims on the turbo, didn't the 242 tubo's come with 195's? The 185s I have, have a lower profile and I believe suitable for the 242. Can I use the 185's on the turbo rims without adverse affects.

According to tirerack.com, you should be fine with 185/60/15 tires on 6" wide wheels. They list the maximum wheel width for 185 tires as 6"-7", depending on the tire model.

They will work on the rims, but might be kinda skinny. Remember, its always safer to go with a tire that is a bit wider than the rim than the other way around. Breaking the beads loose is never good. 185 should be ok though, if thats what you have. Give the tire shop a call and see what they say.

Currently, I have a mixed bag of 185/60-H15s on the front and 205/55-h15s on the rear. I have the stock 15" turbo alloys.

BTW, I got a set of 205/60-H15 Pirelli P8000s at Sears for $57 apiece (orig $97) this weekend. I want to have all tires identical, and I like the look and feel of the 205s. I think the Sears sale goes until the end of Nov.

So, yes, the 2185s will work fine on those wheels.

How's the handling with that combination of tire sizes? I have an '87 240 with 185/70/14 tires, but I need to replace two of them, and I wanted to use 205/55/15 tires on two of my 240 turbo wheels to put on the back, but I'm curious if the handling will be noticably affected.
