HELP!!HELP!! OIL ALL OVER HOT MOTOR 200 89

I Can use any help anyone can offer.

After running my 240 wagon for a short drive oil seems to spray out the oil fill cap and cover the exaust manifold and intake. What is making this happen. Please reply, I'd hate to see things go up in smoke,(and flame)

Re: HELP!!HELP!! OIL ALL OVER HOT MOTOR 200 89

Assuming that oil cap seal's OK, it sounds like either a clogged flame trap and/or oil trap housing (worst case), the large black plastic thing under the intake manifold by cyl #3. Remove the flame trap and pour oil into the opening for the large plastic oil trap below it (use a hose or something) or try blowing through it. It should drain but if not, it's clogged and needs replacing (happens from poor maintenance, lack of frequent oil changes).

When examining the flame trap, make sure the vacuum hose and vacuum nipple to it (on the manifold) is also not clogged.

The oil cap seal is almost certainly gone. I've found that these have a limited lifespan before they harden, and I have a small collection of new ones in my parts box. Cheap.
