Noisy electric motors 900 1996

There are two electric motors that screech and howl like the bearings are going bad. Both appear to be in the right front fender area behind the headlight. Does anyone know anything about these?

I think your talking about the secondary air pump disconect it as see if the noise goes away the connector is on the side of the motor

Re: Noisy electric motors 900 1996

George:

The thing that comes to mind (although it isn't two motors) is the auxillary air pump. It is right behind the passenger side headlight next to the engine. It is notorious for sucking in water and either freezing or at least making noise. Mine made this noise for a while but then quit. I remember that someone else had written about this earlier. The pump goes bad, but there is a valve behind it that goes bad that apparently lets water in the pump or something.

If you have the "winter or foul weather" package, you probably have headlight wipers, and the motor(s) may be crapping out. If not, I'm not sure what it could be.

BINGO - Noisy right headlamp wiper motor. I "wacked" it (actually just moved the blade arm), it made one sweep and all was quiet. Thanks...
