Hi guys,

Rebuilding a b21ft.Going for 200 to 220 hp.Do I put my dream project motor in my basically rustless shiny 244,or do I search for a nice 242 because of sportiness and rigitity.

What have you done to get 200+ hp out of your b21 and how much dod it cost? I have an 81 245 that desperately needs more hp.

With the 242 you can get rid of half the exhast system and exit just in front of the rear wheels. What about a GT?

This exhaust idea of yours intrigues me.I went and bought a sport exhaust from IPD before I read a post describing your plan.Frankly,I would have tried yours since I have a great muffler guy who could do it.Not dissatisfied w/IPD free flow,but its a money thing.Gonna try it though on my next one,or on a resell.

GT?Yea I would love to find one or just a clean 242 to prep for my first motor rebuild.

IMO, the only real difference is the # of doors, otherwise it's the same car.

If you ever need to do work on the 242 in terms of doors/trim and items like that they are rarer than the 244. It is harder to get passengers in the 242 vs 244. I myself drove a 84 245Ti for 3 years and loved it even though it was on its last legs. I bought a 82 242 last may and love it. It has minor issues that I need to repair but nothing like the 245.

The 245 will haul more cargo and such if you need to do that, that is one thing I miss.

Maybe try sitting in the 242, 244 and see which u prefer. They are both great cars. What are you going to be doing with it? Basing on your HP numbers, race? or just like to have that much :) If so, like u said the 242 is great for rigidity.

82 242T 161K miles

While I like my '82 244 it is a bit difficult getting in & out as I am tall & large(I have the seat extenders also).The 242 would releive this but I also like the versatility of the 4 doors.Perhaps I can go to those companies that build stetch limo's & have them stitch together a 242 front to a 244 rear at the middle.

262C or 86 or newer 245 gets my vote!
