Oil Separator R+R 200 86

Hi,

Is the oil separator on the 86 240 a simple R+R? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Pretty much. Remove the flame trap from above, and working by feel, reach under the intake manifold and find the two bolts securing the separator to the block. Using a combo wrench, remove these two bolts (12 mm or 13??).

Lift the oil separator STRAIGHT UP from the block so as to not disturb the plastic hose attached to it—this hose runs down the inside of the block into the sump, and is secured by clips. If you twist 'n turn the separator, you might dislodge the hose—then you have a significant repair job.

The oil separator can usually be washed out, but I understand it's not expensive, even from Volvo, so you might simply replace it.
