Auto Trans Lines 700 87

I had to twist off one of the auto transmission coolant lines going into the radiator in order get the radiator out. I have cut the line neatly and have some hydrolic hose to splice in between. I was thinking of putting one of those IPD transmission filters or a trans cooler on the line. The line I cut is the bottom line into the radiator...is that the line out of the transmisson or the line going back into the transmission?

thanks, John

Re: Auto Trans Lines 700 87

In my 91 745, the top line at the radiator is the line returning fluid to the transmission. Connect several feet of clear 5/16" ID (for the 91 anyway)tubing between the cut ends of the line and crank the engine to see the direction of flow, if in doubt. I got tubing at Home Depot for 17 cents/foot. Good luck.

They say it is the other line, but it will do the same thing, just before rather than ofter the oil cooler.
