What' wrong with my 940 radio? 900 1993

I have a '93 940 with a CR-814 anti-theft radio cassette player. Well, It all started when my father "accidentally" short-circuited my cigarette lighter. I replaced the fuse that governs sig.lighter/mirrors/and of course the RADIO. Ever since then there is nothing coming out of my rear speaks and the front speaks are so faint, you could not hear them @ 65mpg. My first guess is that the rear channel was burned out. I am currently in search for another radio. I have recently discovered there is an external amp connected to the back. Who knows where that is? Is there another fuse that I overlooked? Any suggestions?

The Amp is under the dash next to the steering column. You might want to double check your fuses first because if the 900's are the same as the 700's there is a separate fuse for the Amplifier. On my 700 they are both listed as sterio fuses but if I pull the 10 amp I get the same symptoms as you describe.

Re: What' wrong with my 940 radio? 900 1993

Hi i own a 940 GLE 1991. My radio system is factory fitted. There is an eternal amp connecteed to the radio system. I don't know much about the location of this amp in the US model as mine is a right hand drive. I discovered it under the dash next to the steering column. Its silver/black and square. And yes it operate on separate fuse. Try changing the fuse for the amp. I don't exactly recall the column for the amp fuse at the fuse box. I think its one of the two fuses that is placed horizontally but if you check all your fuses you find the culprit.

Few months ago I didn't get any sound from my radio too. I thought its the radio fuse. But checked out Okey. Then I checked all the fuse. I discovered one of its was burned out. I replaced it and my radio came to alive.

Hope this is useful.
