replaced Lambda fuel air with non/lambda 200 78

I just replaced the entire fuel air unit in my son's 242GT w/Lambda with a fuel/air unit from a non-california 77' 242 parts car (plain jane with the EGR setup). The car runs great, but seems to use more fuel than it used to. Do I need to adjust the mixture? Is there anything else I should look for. (I didn't put the EGR valve on the 242GT when I did this - could this affect my mileage? - I assumed that wouldn't hurt anything).

Also - does anyone have a good wiring diagram for an 82 MPG engine? I'm redoing the wiring harness at the firewall and forgot to mark which wire on the "car" side that the "grey" wire on the engine side matches up with - since it appears there isn't a grey wire on the car side. the device it attaches to is a thermal sensor for the Lambda unit, I think, located underneath the thermal time switch).

Re: replaced Lambda fuel air with non/lambda 200 78

Hey just thought I could quote the Chiltons that came with my 79 242 GT as it says"The Lambda Sond Feedback System is a self-tuning engine control system designed to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy." Thats why your car could be getting less than ideal fuel milage! And that question about the egr valve, did you plug the hole where it was supposed to go or did you just leave it open? What did you do with this port? The egr valve wouldn't effect the fuel economy too much unless you left the opening to the intake open and then it would be leaning out the mixture? Just something to think of.

Re: replaced Lambda fuel air with non/lambda 200 78

I didn't repace the intake manifold from the egr model - only the fuel/air unit, so I don't have a hole to plug there. I'm to the point where I can actually check the mileage now, maybe it just seems excessive. Thanks for responding.
