OD Switch 700 1984

Has anyone thought about replacing the OD Switch with a heavy-dudy togggle switch and place it at the seat warmer. I paid $20. for a dealer OD Switch, only to have Goodyear($70.) tell me the OD Switch does not engage. Goodyear said the OD Switch is to stay down while in overdrive. Is that true?

Re: OD Switch 700 1984

Scott, first provide us with more information, like is the switch for an automatic or manual transmission overdrive.

The switches for both are momentary contact and the result in each transmission is different.

Narrow the scope of the problem for us, including what the automatic or manual OD is or is not doing.

NO. The O/D switch is momentary and only activates a relay. It is very rare for a switch to go bad. More common problems include relay, shifter handle wiring, and 4th gear switch on gearbox. Goodyear? Find someone who knows what he is doing!
