Re: K and N Cone filter Question?? 200 1989

I would like to try that too but I heard that it also draws heat off the engine. Doesn't that extra heat kill performance??

Check out these sites (they're about the same car). That's the only time I've noticed the use of an open air filter.

Re: K and N Cone filter 200 1989

I've done it and works great. I connected 2.5 inch hose to the air mass meter to 2.5 exhaust pipe expanded to 3 in on the opposite side to 3 inch hose to a 3 inch pipe bent to about 80 degrees to a cone filter with 3inch id. All this ran under the battery support and through the original hole for the air box. The corner of the headlight housing was cut (extraneous material) for the curve in the last pipe. The cone filter lies perfectly infront of the AC condenser and behind the grill assembly. Whewww! I hope that helps. It hasn't been noisy but I can definately tell the difference in the increased throttle response. Also, you may have to relocate the airmass meter a couple of inches lower on the strut tower - no problem.
