electrical 900 1993

Late last evening the dash lights on my 93 Volvo 944 sedan when out. However, the left signal dash indicator (the little green arrow that points left) illuminated not flashing. The high bean indicator (the attractive little blue light) also came on. The vehicle was dark except for these two lights which both stayed illuminated and neither the high beam or signal were in use. After a few seconds to comprehend what was occurring I adjusted the illumination intensity up and down(a few times), and the dash lights went back to normal. Has any one else experienced this problem? I would like to confirm that this is not an indicator for any other problems!

Sounds like one of the grounds has become intermittent. Touching the control may have just moved something enough to make it work again. I'll bet the problem could have been "fixed" with a "thump" also. I'll also bet that the problem will be back and is probably a connector contact corroded or a connector not seated well. Maybe a break in the Printed circuit Board, (PCB), as well, that needs to be re-soldered.

/// Sounds like you solved the problem. Try attaching an ohm meter to that control and turning it to see if there is a probem with the element. You might find that it is a loose connection in the path to that control.

You didn't say if the engine was running when this happened. If for instance you had just switched it off the problem could be the accessory contact in the ignition switch or some other contact problem in that circuit.
