P.S. Wake up 200 85

Newest issue,

My power steering is stiff for the first few seconds, then it wakes up. It just started doing this, is my pump on the way out?

Thanks , Phil Stone

Re: P.S. Wake up 200 85

/// Check your PS belt and its tension. Belts slip on start up when they are just on the edge of being loose. Cold helps.

Re: P.S. Wake up 200 85

When a U-joint in the steering column binds, the steering becomes stiff.

Tuck that away in the back of your mind if no other answers surface.

I can't imagine how a failing U-joint would be smart enough to do it only first thing in the morning, but.......

Re: P.S. Wake up 200 85

Mine does the same thing a few times a year. Check the oil level in the pump, usually when this happens I just top it up and it doesn't do it again for a while.

That doesn't mean though that something isn't failing, but it's a good start. (and it's cheaper too!)
