Two "right" motor mounts - does size matter? 200 1987

I started messing about with the friend's 87 wagon today in preparation for its trip to Chicago next week. I had ordered two motor mounts from oem volvo-partsbin(really like their prices and service).

However, I ended up with two passenger side mounts (big ones) instead of a big and small (drivers side). I ordered both sides, but mistakes happen as the part numbers were one digit apart.

Any problem with putting a big one on the dirver's side, since I have it? I seem to recall the turbos having beefier mounts on the 240s.

Right now I have two big ones and am inclined to go ahead and put them on each side! Does size really matter - LOL!

Hmm...> I just got 2 mounts from thepartsbin.com, and they were both different...the thing I was wondering is, that, one of them came in a box, and had 2 "bolts" coming out of it, while the other one was in a plastic baggy, and had only rubber studs, but strangely came with 2 nuts. I haven't gotten a chance to get under the car yet, but does the left one go in and just sit there??

There are the same. The rubber studs are not rubber studs, they are capped with a rubber guard. It comes off. You got the right ones (if the part numbers match). Gave the same scare too. The one with the nylon lock nuts goes in passenger side.

When replacing them you may find it easier to unbolt the lower supports for an easier fit.

Re: Two "right" motor mounts - does size matter? 200 1987

Well, I actually found a driver's side motor mount on an Easter Sunday at an Advanced Auto parts - sent my sister and the 87's owner out looking for it this afternoon.

Today, I put in both motor mounts, all belts, a new radiator and thermostat, all new hoses, alt bushings, new negative bat cable and re-wired both sides of the wagon hatch!

That's enough for one day - and it took all day! My sister and the friend (along with two teenage girls)are driving it to Chicago on Weds - a 400 mile trip - so I might as well fix it up!!

Thanks

They should both be bolted in the same way. The ones I got were identical except passenger's side was larger diameter than driver's side.

I just figured out the mounts and pin location is different! Duh!!

Oh well - let's see if I can find one on Easter Sunday!
