Brakes acting up! 300 85

I just bought a Volvo 340 gl and when I use brakes the first time they work ok its the next try is when the act up. They will barely work and the brake pedal gets hard to push like it stopped moving. Anyone know whats wrong?

    Sounds like a dodgy servo. Run the car without touching the brakes. Switch off the engine. Press the brake pedal.The pedal should go hard in 3 or 4 applications as you exhaust the vacuum in the servo. Keep your foot on the brake and re-start the engine. Your foot should feel the pedal go down as the vacuum is built back up.

    If the servo is fault take a look at the rubber bung on the servo body where the vacuum pipe goes in, it splits.
