tranny swap question...please help 200 1981

the aw55 automatic trans is going out in my 1981 262c (prv6 motor). i have a 4speed w/o.d. manual trans from a 1979 245dl (4cylinder motor) waiting to be put in. what differences are there (if any) in bellhousings and input shafts that i have to correct?

please help. i need to have all the parts ready to do the swap quickly once started.

    in a word no

    better to put late model 4 speed auto with torque converter

    your doner trans needs: different input shaft.....rare

    pilot bearing

    depending on clutch fork, may work

    possibly trans mount different (minor)

    shifter mount assembly complete, longer, rare

    output flange could be different diameter

    to find these parts will be a chore as there were few 260's with manuals

    then you have to change the parts over and the input shaft could be difficult resulting in tranny shop visit

    BEST BET is to find a sick 260 / 760 and get the auto from that car

    PREFER 4 SPEED WITH LOCKUP TORQUE CONVERTER if you have a choice get AW

      so are you saying that a manual from a 4 cylinder will not work, even from other various years? will a manual trans from a 260 or 700 v6 work? i really don't like auto trans. if i must use an auto, i will just rebuild the aw55 myself.
