which thermostat 700 89

today I went to a parts store to get items needed to prepare for an upcoming weekend project to replace the timing belt, water pump, and fan belts. I was given the thermostat and compared it to the owners manual once home and the one I was given is 87 degrees Cel. The owners manual reads 92. I have a 745T. does 5 degrees make that much difference and should I replace what he gave me?

i believe that stock OEM for the nonturbo is 92 degrees and for the turbo is 87, at least for the 90+ cars that I have.

my owners manual for the 745T says different. it shows 92 degrees for the turbo and 87 for the 16v and Gl models. I am just wondering if I need to take the 87 degree thermostat back and use the 92 or does it make a difference. I figured it had to do with the cooling of the turbo more than anything else. Or does it?

the OEM thermostat in my '88 240 nonturbo is 89 degrees Celsius. If you live in cold area of the country you use 92 degrees. For Florida or warm areas, 87 or 89 degrees are fine.
