Lowering springs... 4-5inch gap! 140-160 1974

Looking for ideas!!! ive searched just about everywhere (even the 164 club of Sweden) for ideas on where i could find lowering springs for the front of my 164. I have a set of msw 6.5x15's with 205 60 R15 tires. I know for a fact that i have seen several 164 pictures (not computer edited) that are level... both front and rear - with a much lower profile tire than the standard wheels+tires. Ive been trying to look everywhere possible for a solution besides "cutting the springs".

Also, they are standard-size 5" dia coil springs. Get the load rating and height of your springs, and go shopping in the junk yards. Look for springs on big American V8 autos.

In the Hot Rod / Street Rod magazines, there are several companies that are supplying Mustang II and custom front-ends for rods, and they often have a selection of 5" springs of different load ratings.

Re: Lowering springs... 4-5inch gap! 140-160 1974

I have a 1974 144 that i just cut the front spings on, be very carefull on how you reposition the springs once you put them back in it made about an inch difference from side to side just by rotating the spring. and by the way if I could go back in time I would not have done this. just a little advice on how much to cut if you do cut them, I cut 1.5 coils off and that was way to much!!!!!! now I have about 1.5 inches of travel before the tire hits the top of the wheel well, and yes I feel like a idiot.
