84GLT Thermostat differ from non turbo? 200 84GLT

I finally installed a new water pump but when I removed old Thermostat I thought that half of it was corroded. It was half the size of the new thermostat I bought. Are the thermostat for turbo different from NA engines?

I thought so too but the thermostat in this car is only the part with the spring and plunger no part that restrict water from flowing through the head. The only part that I think restricts is the hole in the head going to the water pump I think. I replace thermostat on my 242 and 740 both are the same and straight forward replacement but this looks like a rod w/ a pice of copper used to center on one side and a pice of copper on the cap (the thing that hold the thermostat and hose). I will try to post the picture Friday I have more time. I looked at it last weekend and it is a volvo part, should have written that part number.
