    Re: Tripmeter stem 200 1993

When I bought my used 92 245 the trip meter stem was broken. I went to a local junkyard, pulled out an instrument cluster and carefully removed the plastic stem. The stem clips onto some sort of spring mechanism inside the odometer.

$1 later, I was back home removing the instrument cluster from my brick. I used a pair of needlenose pliers to unclip what was left of the broken stem, and clipped on the new one.

Overall it was a very easy repair (about 20 minutes) and was the first thing I did to my "new" brick.

You can also glue back together the broken stem if you have both

pieces. Just use something strong like epoxy. You won't see the repair

because it breaks at the rear right next to the part where it clips on.
