Cruise Control 200 84

I bought an 84 240 wagon (parts car) that is equipped with cruise control. It appears to be factory as it is complete with operation manuel. It is complete with the main control unit on the firewall, a computer looking unit mounted inside by wiper motor (made by Dana), and the turn signal switch with built in control. This car is equiped with automatic transmission.

I was wondering if this will work on a standard transmission car??

Will it work with a later model car with electronic speedo??

Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Cruise Control 200 84

It will work. If you're scrounging parts to transplant, don't overlook the big 3-reel throttle spool assembly on the intake manifold. The end spool is for the cable from the CC actuator.

One other thing -- you'll see a vacuum sensor at the brake pedal. On a clutch equipped car you should configure a vac sensor at the clutch pedal exactly as at the brake pedal. Imagine what would happen otherwise to RPM if you depressed the clutch (slowing the car) with CC engaged.....

Re: Cruise Control 200 81

I have been thru this for a couple of weeks. The unit was built by Dana. This division was sold to Rostra about nine years ago. They don't have parts for these units. It would be cheeper if much is missing to buy one of their after market units which they say will fit our cars. The switch on the clutch is an electric switch. The brake has both the electric light / cruise switch and the vacuum switch. I have had this system apart and have gotten it to work . The cable from the control unit come in different lengths. I got on at a pick and pull and was 6" short. However they are easy to change out. Remove the mounting bracket, two screws on the other end and there is a connector sorta like a light pull chain to unconnect. If you need any more info be happy to help you.

Re: Cruise Control 200 84

Independent of transmission, so it will work fine in an 81-85 240. It will not work with electronic speedo equipped cars. The speed sensor in the speedo head is a coil pick up and will not work with the newer cars. 86-89 cruise is very different and 90-93 cruise again changed dramatically.
