I was quoted about $100 (which will just give you change from US $50) by a local transmission place to fit a transmission cooler to my '84. That didn't include the aux. radiator, I already have that.

I have considered doing it myself but decided that it was a bit beyond me.

Apparently there is a lot of time/work in making up the bits to mount it, hence what I deem to be a high price?

Could you just use 4 - 6 cable ties to hold it in front of the radiator? How hot does the radiator itself get?

I don't know where to go to get the bits to connect it all up, although I do understand the method and principal.

I don't think I'd be game to disconnect the existing lines and play around with it all, although if I could supply the bits and the attaching method I could get my local mechanic to do it for $50 / hour.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

100 bucks just to fit it sounds a bit steep. Just looked at the remote cooler on the 245 in the paddock and I doubt its more than a half-hour job. Handful of hose clamps, two right-angle brackets made from 12 or 19 mm wide flat steel, couple of bolts, nuts, and maybe some self tapping screws. Feel free to drop round and have a look if you like.

US$50 doesn't seem too bad to me. Yes, you have the cooler itself, but all the other bits can add up to some money as well.

I also do not know what standard shop labor rates are there. Here, ~US$30 would buy you 1/2 hour of a mechanic's time. If that seems reasonable to you, I would say that 1/2 hour of time plus the assorted bits and pieces might well add up to US$50.
