Koni Shocks available! ALL All

I posted earlier today about getting KONI shocks for my non-Nivomat 965. I found the most helpful dealer in NY. Tim at Custom Spares, 914-923-2525 has, or can get, any KONI made. He noted he has in stock, for example, shocks for a '544!

I don't know how many of you know about KONI but I've been using them for years, (30+) and in my opinion, they can't be beat. They are all custom designed for each application and adjustable so you can fine-tune them to your tastes. I usually set them about two clicks stiffer than stock for my taste. I have never worn a set out and they are guaranteed for life to the original purchaser. A set I got for my Corvair in 1968 is still in service with over 300K miles and the rear of a Corvair is a real load.

I ordered both a rear set for my 965, which have to be made so I probably won't see them until September, and an in stock set for the "Citation" axel I built into my boat trailer.

Re: Koni Shocks available! 200 82

    Hi Jim,

Any experience with these konis on 240 series cars? I do remember from years past that koni was the shock of choice on Jag xj. Are they a better perfoming shock than Boge turbo?

My experience includes, Corvairs, Porsche (914-6), Oldsmobile Wagons, and Volvo 740. In each case the result was a good firmly damped but not harsh ride and excelent bump performance. They lasted until I sold the cars in each case and I know several of them went 200K miles without any problem.

It was essentually a buy, install and "forget" while enjoying great performace in the process. (I did a lot of high speed autocross events including road race tracks in one of the Corvairs with them. Instructors said car handled as well as any car they had experienced with the Konis and OEM "sport package" springs.)

However, I have no experienced with a 240.

Re: Koni Shocks available! How Much? ALL All

How could you bring such joyous news to the world, and NOT tell us how much?

This must be the too-good-to-be-true part.

$115.00 each plus shipping. (MSRP is $164 each.) Not cheap but if you keep the car many miles they get cheaper and in the interval you will have great handling and/or ride to your preference.

Re: Koni Shocks available! How Much? ALL All

        Hello Jim,

I researched Konis for my 240. Most people want to sell you the red

Konis. They are a wonderful product but they are made to give you

a good ride with good handling. For the less compromising folks Koni

makes a yellow sport shock. This also is adjustable but is much more

sport oriented and gives up ride comfort for handling. I was able to

get a set of yellow sport shocks for my 240 for $389 for the set of

2 struts and 2 rear shocks from shox.com. They also have very good

prices on Bilstein. They have the red Konis available there.

www.shox.com was recommended to me by CFI motorsports. I'm looking forward

to trying the Konis later this summer.
