wet drivers side carpet 900 93

After what was going to be a simple shake of my drivers side floor mat I noticed the presence of moisture. Well, half an hour later panels removed carpet peeled, I followed the water to a black square on my left kick panel. The square is about 4X4 and appears to be a air intake with a solid cover on it. Is there a seal that goes bad that the dealer might have...? The sun is down now and my garage contains everything but cars so while I’m waiting for day light I was hoping someone may have experienced this problem and could please forward their solution and or reason.

thanks,

Ross

Re: wet drivers side carpet 900 93

I have had the same problem. I removed the panel put plenty of silicone sealant around the lip, put it back in. Problem solved. Make sure water has not started rust anywhere on the floor and particularly where seat base is welded to floor. There ia a like panel on the passenger side. Check it. If it is leaking you know what to do. If there is moisture in passenger side it could also be bad drainage of condensed moisture from air conditioner evaporator. Check drainage hole on the firewall approximately below air conditioner receiver and above exhaust downpipe. Let me know what you find.

This is an unused vent, the seal for which has failed. Remove it and seal it up.
