Selective Automotive in Hollywood is excellent and reasonable. The owner has been a Volvo Master Tech for years. The phone number is 954-454-2600 if you are interested.

I'm the one that asked the question but I know of the following:

        BF AUTO MIAMI, FL

        DAVID's Volvo Miami Fl

        Leira Auto Miami Fl

They are around 7 blocks from each other and have been around for 20+ years

I'd just like some insight about these guys if anyone has any.

What area are you moving to? I'm a native and if you need any pointers please post.

I've taken my car to "JC Company" in DeLand once before for transmission work. If you visit my webpage at (http://www.grove.ufl.edu/~estaufer/volvo.htm) and look at my repairs, you'll see what was done. It was JC Company that fixed it. I haven't had any type of transmission problem since it was fixed back in March 2000. JC Company works on Volvos, Mercedes, and BMWs. In Daytona itself, there's Volvo of Daytona, but I haven't visited there.

As far as Orlando goes... I've heard good things about "The Volvo Store" in Winter Park. However, I don't have any personal experience with them.

            Hope this helps somewhat.

            Regards,

I'm looking around for an apartment, preferably 1 bedroom, somewhat close to downtown. I applied for an internship with the Heat Group at the American Airlines Arena and am expecting an answer in the near future. Can you recommend any places? I've been looking around on the internet, but am always open for advice.

          Eric

The downtown area is either "not very safe and therefore extremely cheap" or (Brickell Area) just over the river and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE.

You can sometimes find good one bedrooms in Coconut Grove (near SW 27 Ave between US1 and S. Bayshore Drive), the Coral Way area (Coral Way--aka Sw22 Street between 27 Ave and 2nd Ave).

The neighborhoods east of 2nd Ave (around Biscayne Blvd) between NE30 th Street and 70 Street. This last one is just north of the Arena and is a neighborhood that encompasses the newly flourishing Design District. There could be some good deals in here but it is not yet a very nice neighborhood (keep the volvo garaged). However, in pockets there are a lot of young people moving in and its close to everything.

Hell, you can even live on south beach or mid beach and commute. Its only 10-20 minutes away from the AAA by car and just 30-40 by bus if you don't want the parking hassles.

            Good luck.

Anyone know anything about David's Volvo? Their prices are good.
