Swapping a 7xx series alternator into my 240. Can it be done? 200 82ti

Hello-

The alternator in my 82 240 turbo is getting weaker day by day. I was wanting to know if I could get a 7xx series alternator(bracket and all) and mount it where it is located in the 7xx series car on the intake side (My car does not have A/C and is manual steering so I have the available space). It would be great to free up the oil filter area, and would also help in ventilation of the turbo and manifold. Would this work, does the bracket match up to the b21ft block? What amp. alternators were avaiable in the 7xx series car? Thanks for the help

It'll bolt up as the engine is basically the same, the accessories bolt up the same but you'll need the large aluminum 700 AC/Alt bracket with its bushings and brackets for the alternator. That'd be best found at a salvage yard. The later 700s, like around '92 had a 100 amp alternator and it's the same physical size as the older, lower amp alternators.
