Code 1-4-4 700 1990

Does anyone know a way to confirm that the air mass meter is bad? I am getting the 1-4-4 code (no load signal from AMM) but would hate to run out and buy a new one and still have the code.

Thanks

Re: Code 1-4-4 700 19901

Rich -

I recently had a recurring problem with this code, only to discover that the plastic hose and bellows running from AMM to inlet manifold was cracked and leaking. Having fixed this, the fault hasn't recurred, so it may well be worth checking.

Re: Code 1-4-4 700 1990

Code 1-4-4 for EZK ignition module (Test probe position 6) according to Volvo Service Bulletin is "stored when the ignition control module (ICM) loses power. Poor soldering in injection fuel injection sytem relay can produce an intermittent open corcuit in the power supply to pin 9 in the LH 2.4 ICM"

As Don Foster has pointed out innumerable times, resolder your fuel injection relay and your radio supression relay. If that doesn't fix it post back for more suggestions.

Re: Code 1-4-4 700 1990

My book shows 1-2-1 for AMM trouble, and no code 1-4-4 is shown. Unplug the AMM with the ignition off and drive the car. If it drives the same, it is probably the AMM. Do not plug or unplug the AMM with the ignition on.
