Stalling 700 1989

After driving for the 3rd or 4th time for the day, it stalls at stops or even when cruising at 40mph, acts like runs out of gas. All fuel pumps, o2 sensor, tune up, relays have been replaced. The computer shows zero problems. It acts just like vapor lock, which I thought did not happen in a fuel injected (740GL) car.

ITs been too 3 "specialists" and a dealer and none can figure it out, any ideas? nrbrand@msn.com or nrbrand@qwest.com

Re: Stalling 700 1989

I forgot to mention that it will not start immediately, I have to wait 10-20 minutes and than it will start right up and run great. It only does this

in stop and go traffic. At freeway speed, never a problem.

Re: Stalling 700 1989

When it will not restart this is when to check for symptoms. Is there spark? While cranking does the tach nudge up slightly? Fuel pumps running? You need to know if it is spark or fuel related.

Re: Stalling 700 1989

sounds like heat induced problem...you can try replacing the ignition amplifier/module with a known good one..see if you can borrow one somewhere because it's a $125 or so 'try' with a new one.
