Hard start sometimes... possible fuel pressure problem?? 200 1989

Hi

Sometimes my car has trouble starting.(1989 240DL with the 2.0 LH-Jetronic system)

I remidy the problem by unpluging the fuse for the fuel injector system

(the one located on the firewall). crank the engine a couple times, plug it in and then the car will start and run like a champ.

This problem occurs randomly and may occur two days in a row or a long as several weeks between no starts.

Any ideas why the system is loosing pressure???

Why will it run fine once it is started f there is a apparent pressure leak???

Jim:

Didn't the '89 240s have the 2.4 LH-Jetronic? Oh well, never mind. Sounds like you might have a bad fuel pump check valve. Not an expensive part, but you have to drop the main fuel pump to get at it.
