AC 134 retrofit expansion orifice 700 1992

When I picked up my AC retrofit kit from the local volvo parts guy, it did not include an expansion orifice. When I brought this to the parts guys attention he pulled one from stock. The part number is the same as the the orifice used in the R12 system. Is this coorect or should it be the same as in the post 1993 940? Anyone know the correct part number?

The retofit kit is part # 9145660-8.

Is This The Same As The VOV Discussed Recently? 700 1992

A variable orifice valve was recently discussed. Is this the same? Does anyone have part numbers for the VOV?

The Volvo dealers haven't gotten into the VOV thing yet. Maybe someday.

Anyway, look it up on carparts.com or some such look up service. They are readily available, mine was $33, and I remember that being list price.

There are 2 VOVs available. One for "normal" summer temps, and the other especially for high temperature areas of the country.

When I installed mine (look for the crimped area in the tube that snakes along the frame rail up into the firewall) I found it impacted with mud. I also noticed it was identical to the R134a tube sold at Discount Auto. You should find them locally very easily.

Your kit should have come with the correct orifice (yellow in color)yes it is diffrent ,slightly larger hole.I've installed many of these kits with no problems. Good luck!...Brent
