Heater Fan Motor Temporary Fix??

OK - so I am ready to try & temporarily silence the squawking heater fan motor.(86 245)

What I need to know is - where do I access it easily -

1.) throught the front of the dash by removing the rocker switch blocks?

2.) Through the dash air vent after I have removed the dash vents?

3.) or through the trunk?

Although I am not serious about item #3, I suspect that there si a ring of truth to it (remember this is a 245).

If anyone has experience with lubing the bushings - just temporarily - to preserve our sanity till we have no other choice (when it goes KAPUT)

Your advice is appreciated.

I have a replacement motor but am pressed for time right now.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Heater Fan Motor Temporary Fix??

Gord --

I've pulled the blower motor out of every 240 I've owned -- seven, so far, not counting others in the family. Most I've cleaned and relubed, and they just keeping on chuggin' (quietly). A few needed replacing (with used, free motors, naturally).

However, my method of extraction is crude. And once done, the heater ducts are not the same -- permanently "modified". So most devoted Bricksters turn their noses up at this approach. Appropriately.

How interested are you?
