Air conditioning problem 900 1996

I am having a problem with my ac. Warm air is blowing out of the middle vents. I have had the freon checked and they said that it might be a valve letting in warm air. The air starts to cool down after I have been driving for a while. The side air vents blow out cool air, but it does not seem as cool as it used to be. I have a thirty minute car ride home from work and it takes about twenty minutes for it to finally cool down. Is there a valve that is letting in hot air or is there something else.

Re: Air conditioning problem 900 1996

Hi Danny:

Well, I am surprised that nobody responded to this. I think that what the a/c people were referring to was whether the heater valve was stuck in the on position. Don't know for sure, but I doubt it. I think that this is an indication of freon level problems. What people on the Brickboard have said before (if I remember correctly) is that this is an indicator of low freon level. If the a/c shop is not sure take it to another one.

I do know that poor cooling can also be caused by too high a freon level for r134, but I am betting on too little freon.

Just as an aside, is your electric fan working OK?

Hope this helps.
