cracked window on speedo 200 1980

Well I just recently bought the RPM guage to place in my car. But has yet to install it, I am not sure where to connect it to the coil. But then thats one of many projects that i'm doing. Like installing air horns and just last night I stripped the left door to put in a new speaker... just to find out that the window can't roll down! Ha!, thats what you get when you purchase a "RAGE" speaker at Target for $8.99.

Well heres the new problem, the window or plastic glass is broken to the instrument cluster. It must have broke last night, cause I didn't see yesterday. CURSES!! for living out in the california desert!!! I suspect it was the heat.

I have a spare instrument cluster that I can use if I knew how to take out the glass. Would it be safer to take this to my local speedo guy and have them replace it?

You should have a heavy gray/black shielded cable in the dash that plugs into the tach. Are you installing the tach made for your cluster, that replaces the center lower knockout? There are plenty of those of 75-80 type clusters around and the plastic shell with the lens is easy to replace.

Yup, its the center of the instrument cluster on a 1980. I was told by fellow brickster that the end of the wire is connected +post, but un fortunantely I can't see any markings. I'll check the wires, maybe.

But how do you change the plastic cover? I'm looking at it

(used instrument cluster on the floor)

right now and I can't seem to pull it off. If I can do this gently on this used one, I wouldn't want to break it. Oh! you know what? I pulled the RPM guage from the same instrument cluster, But the speedo goes up to 130 "MPH". Mine is only 85 mph, would it matter?

The 1 terminal is the only one you have available and the only one available to you for the black/gray cable. The 130 mph is the way to go as long as the odometer works. And just swap all instruments over to the housing with the good lens.
