It doesn't fit me without surgery 900 91

I recently bought a 1991 940 SE Tutbo wagon with 98 k and it's very clean, inside and out. The car feels and drives great and I want to get used to it and like it. I have a three questions concerning getting used to this car. I am just under 6 feet and 175 lbs, which should be in the ball park of common size. I can't imagine that the car shouldn't fit me.

The gas pedal is so easy to operate that I must hold my foot up with muscle to go down the road. In only about 1500 miles, my right foot is so sore that I really feel it when I drive it and now even when I walk. Originally I had expected my muscles to strenghten and get used to the new position. I use the cruise control whenever possible. I am used to cars having the tranny/driveshaft tunnel so that I can rest the right side of my shoe on it and use the left side of my shoe to operate the gas pedal. Before I start trying to attach a foot rest on the tunnel, is there some fix for this? Am I the only one to find this problem?

When I position the seat so that my leg is stretched correctly then I can hardly reach the steering wheel. I actually have short legs (32" inseam) and long (35" shirt sleeves) arms. What does the average person do? I haven't found any way to move the steering wheel back. It only seems to adjust up and down.

I am also sitting so high in the car that the center rear view mirror doesn't really show very far back on the road. If I lowered the mirror then it would block my forward view. I just barely look under it as it is now, I can't lower it. I have the seat lowered as far as it goes. I have about 1-2 inches of head room to spare. The car appears to be sitting normally on the ground. The rear isn't sunk down any that I can see.

I really like the car, but it seems that I will need about an inch added to my arms, two vertibrae removed and lots of physical therapy for my right foot. Your help is appreciated.

Volvo sells a thinner seat cushion for the 700 series, and I think they would also sell one for the 900 series. Check with the dealer parts department. Some owners have taken their seat to an upholstery shop and had foam trimmed from the bottom of the seat pad to give a lower sitting position.

Re: It doesn't fit me without surgery 900 93

gas is fine here too.

Im 6 feet 2 and dont have any problem with the seat. There is so many adjustments to this seat (up, down, tilt back-foward etc.) that I cant see why you would not be able to find the correct seat position for yourself. My seats are actually the same ones that I had in my 740ti '89 except that the driver,s is electric. I would figure that, because of this fact, many people would experience the same problems you are experiencing but I never heard about this from anyone. Unless some of your adjustments are inoperative.
