Fuel system won't depressurize?? 200 87

O.K. it's my first car and I'm almost thirty so bear with me....

So she starts and idles agian, roughly but idles without stalling.

Air mass meter seems ok, air control valve seems ok, ecu passes all voltage and resistance tests per haynes and chiltons...

So I have this fuel filter that I bought as part of my get the volvo to work agian campaign. I've disconnected the fuses to both fuel pumps, the car has idled for oh about 15 minutes so far.

Am I missing something here? How long does it take for the fuel system to depressurize? My engine should stall out from having the fuses removed right?

(yes I made sure that I pulled the right fuses)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne

Wayne,

The fuel pump is still getting power somehow. The car shouldn't even start without the pump running. Did you disconnect the fuse under the hood coming right off the battery positive cable?

No, they didn't tell me to do that in the books.

Is that the white fuse marked 25amps?

I'm heading outside again and I'll find it,

thanks.

Wayne,

Yes, the 25 amp spade fuse coming right off the battery. Pull that and then try it. The pump should be off.

Why couldn't they tell me that in either the Chilton's or the Haynes?

Time to go and buy the Bentley book.

Thanks for your help.

working i the street with your car up on jackstands is not the right place to get thT fuel filter off. Those banjo bolts are quite tight, wait for the weekend and use my dads driveway
