It occured to me that it would be great to have a list of Volvo 'ports in a storm' when travelling. I have not seen a comprehensive list of independent Volvo shops listed on the web. Volvo Corp maintains a list of dealers which is very handy to keep in the glove box. We all have our favourite mechanics in our local areas but wouldn't it be nice to have a connection to someone who knows the local landscape when we are on the road. Maybe this is a job for the Volvo club chapters. Does such a network exist? If not, how can we create one on the web without too much fuss and bother?

Thanks, that's a start. I suggest that the list needs to be refreshed and reorganized by region. It also needs more Canadian content (for folks like me). I still think the local club chapters are the best and most appropriate sources of such knowledge. Maybe I will pester our local chapter. The BrickBoard site would be the best place to post such info, though. It could be a list that we could sort by name, by region, by whatever. What I am really looking for is a list of havens for a road trip, so I want a list for all points between A and B. It would be a real pain to have to first locate the local chapters and then find their list.

I am in Burlington, Ontario (close to Toronto). I suggest we send our updates to the Shops listings on the BrickBoard at http://brickboard.com/dbmanager/?setup_file=connections.setup. The 'add item' link prompts you for details of YOUR repair shop; the implication being that the shop itself should add the item. I don't know the policy regarding adding a repair shop's name without their permission but I can't see any shop objecting to being posted, especially from a faithful customer.

I second that idea! It would be great to know where to get a hall sensor when you need one in your travels. These things haunt me at night. Maybe something could be setup in the 700/900 FAQ.
