Distributor R&R 200 84

I am trying to remove the distributor on a 244 DL with a B23F with no luck. I have removed the nut on the adjustment flange. The distributor will turn, but will not lift out. Is there any other nut or hold down that I'm missing? My Haynes manual is not much help beyond removing the screw.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Distributor R&R 200 84

The bit of the distributor body which goes into the engine block is a close fit and gets gummed over the years, making it hard to get out. Its a tight fit but will come loose with perserverance. Turn the distributor back and forth, and lift and lower it slightly at the same time. A bit of penetrating oil or similar helps too. Use a large flat bladed screwdriver to gently lever between the adjustment flange and block. Don't forget to disconnect the wiring to the distributor before you pull it out.

No, there's nothing else holding it down. It's quite common for the distributor to stick this way; I've had some luck with drenching the interface to the block with PCL and working it in, then prying(gently).

PB Blaster or some lignt oil(0W30?) would probably work, too.
