swap 760 turbo - 740 gle, possible?HELP! 700 187

Okay, i have a huge favor to ask anybody that has done this..i am trying to swap a 1987 760 TurboIntercooled motor (B230FT) into a 1987 740 GLE (B230F)...The wire harness on the main block, by the passanger side corner near the firewall is different. I believe the connectors are different. What has to be done about this? The chip is also different, right? Also, the exhaust, was has to be done about this? A very reliable source told me that the intercooler, fan, and radiotor will just slip into place of the one that i have, this is definatly true right? you can either email me, or post a message here, or do both... thanks SO much for all your help, i REALLY want this to swap cuz i can walk faster then my 740 GLE. Also, the turbo motor only has 53K miles on it, while my 740 GLE has 125K. Thanks a lot...

Maybe there's something wrong with your N/A Mike??? Mine may be a manual one, but it sure isn't "slow", it really start to pull at the top end of second gear, i mean, really. It moves quite well, i'd never say "slow".... off the initial mark, maybe a little, but not after that!!

bastard... the n/a motor isn't *that* slow ;)

to do a straight swap, you'll need all three harnesses (well, engine, left side, and right side) adn the ecu and its harness. The ecu has a different connector than the n/a one, that part will be a bit tricky, but it does all come out without breaking anything ;).

you'll need the downpipe back to the cat i believe, but nab as much of it as you can, you can always throw it away later. you'll also need to grab the resistors, they're on the driver's side fender well i believe. get ALL of the oil plumbing and such.

Fuel pumps are different, you'll need the 760's (under the car, driver's side, just cut it out)

Basically, you're going to transplant engine compartments, so if its something that looks even remotely important, grab it. The charcoal canister is something you don't need....

Also, while you've got the harness out, do yourself a really big favor and go through it and fix any suspect wires and re-do the insulation on it, it'll save you the hassle for a while.

most of all, enjoy! the 760's are quick (esp when you crank the boost up)
